The Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP

Home Secretary

HOUSE OF COMMONS

Dear Yvette,

The Sun newspaper reports that you personally intervened to grant VVIP protection to Taylor Swift for her London shows, including Special Escort Group (SEG) motorcyclists. Is this true?

Did you or any of your ministers speak to Sir Mark Rowley about protection for Ms Swift? What advice did you or your ministers receive from Sir Mark or other senior Met Police officers? Did you or other ministers receive the offer of hospitality before or after decisions were made about Ms Swift's protection? Did you or your ministers discuss with the Met Police about other requests for protection and use of the SEG.

The role of the SEG is to serve the state and provide professional mobile protection for Royalty, senior Government ministers, and at times guests of Government and state. It is not for use by private individuals or as traffic assistants for popstars.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

James

Rt. Hon. James Cleverly TD VR MP
