Priti Patel - Rwanda - Keir Starmer has given people smuggling gangs a free pass to put more lives at risk

September 6th, 2024

Following an announcement that Germany is considering the use of third country processing Priti Patel has posted a statement to X:

Priti Patel said: "By scrapping the Rwanda Partnership, Keir Starmer has given people smuggling gangs a free pass to put more lives at risk. It now seems Europe will reap the rewards of our world leading plans, thanks to this incompetent and weak Labour government."

Ms Patel's statement:

The Migration and Economic Development Partnership with Rwanda would have a provided an effective deterrent and been a vital tool to break the business model of the evil people smuggling gangs.

Along with other measures I put in place in the Nationality and Borders Act, it would have served to prevent people putting their lives at risk through dangerous and illegal crossings of the Channel.

Other European countries have been exploring third country processing and the fact that Germany are looking to have a partnership with Rwanda and use the facilities British taxpayers have funded shows how weak and feeble this incompetent Labour Government is.

By scrapping the Rwanda deterrent Sir Keir Starmer has not only given people smuggling gangs a licence to print money and put more lives at risk, he's now effectively subsiding other countries to progress this policy.
