The Jewish Leadership Council has issued a statement following Bob Vylan's "disgraceful" performance at Glastonbury.
Statement
We are disgusted by the obscene display of extremist hatred that took place at Glastonbury Festival and appalled that it was shown live by our national broadcaster. Not as a news item but as a piece of entertainment. Neither Glastonbury Festival nor the BBC can claim ignorance as the risks were well documented over recent weeks. In its failure to send a clear message against the violent rhetoric of Kneecap, they have left their platforms open for other acts to indulge in this vile rhetoric. The BBC must explain what due diligence was done and Glastonbury must accept that its purported ethos centered around "music, culture, togetherness, and respect for the environment and each other" has been betrayed.
