Former Conservative MP for South Thanet, Craig Mackinlay, is handed a peerage by Rishi Sunak. Mr Mackinlay stood down as an MP to concentrate on his recovery following a devastating battle with sepsis, where he lost his arms and legs.
Craig Mackinlay posted on X, formerly Twitter, "I am overwhelmed at being elevated to the House of Lords. My heartfelt thanks to Rishi Sunak for my inclusion on the dissolution Honours List. This gives me a platform to campaign for sepsis, limb loss and for appropriate prosthetics (as well as sensible Net Zero). The Bionic MP changes into the Bionic Lord."
