Employment Minister Alison McGovern has had a car crash interview with LBC's Nick Ferrari.
It's clear that Ms McGovern has no idea how many vacancies are currently available.
Here's the exchange between Alison McGovern and Nick Ferrari:
NF: What's the current level of vacancies, minister?
AM: I think they've recently announced it. Is it not about 1.8 million, something like that?
NF: You're the you're the employment minister, minister, aren't you? You and you're you're talking about people getting into jobs and job opportunities.
So so what are the level of vacancies at the moment?
AM: It's just above it's just above the number of unemployed people. We want to create better jobs in places that don't have enough good jobs.
NF: Yes. But what is the number of vacancies currently?
AM: I think forgive me, I it was just there was just an update recently, and it's just above the number of unemployed people that we have. It's around just over so we have about one and a half million people who are unemployed.
NF: So you're launch you're launching an initiative to get people back into work, and you don't know how many vacancies there are currently. Do you not think you're gonna have to go?
AM: It's it's a forgive me.
NF: It's 841,000. Let's end it there, but I do think, possibly, that is a number that you should know.
