Almost exactly a month ago the Labour Government announced that there would be 'More bobbies on the beat as PM puts people's priorities first'.
Labour promised: 'Every neighbourhood will have a named, contactable police officer in their community, dealing with local issues'.
Keir Starmer pledged: 'The Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee will deliver 13,000 extra neighbourhood police, visible on your streets, cracking down on anti-social behaviour'.
A month later and Essex Police are to investigate making all 99 of its PCSOs redundant in an effort to balance its budget.
Essex Police has a funding shortfall of £5.3m.
Police, fire and crime commissioner Roger Hirst said: "We cannot ignore the fact the government settlement is not enough to meet pay and inflationary pressures".
Mr Hirst continued: "We have to balance the need to respond to local policing and crime priorities with the wider financial pressures on the service and on households".
Mr Hirst said the proposals were subject to a consultation.
