On the run up to the General Election Sir Keir Starmer constantly promised lower energy bills if Labour were to form the next government.
Today OFGEM have announced: "Between 1st October to 31st December 2024 the energy price cap is set at £1,717 per year for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit. This is an increase of 10% compared to the cap set between 1st July to 30th September 2024 (£1,568)."
This follows Rachel Reeves' decision to slash the winter fuel allowance for millions of pensioners.
