Keir Starmer proudly announced a new Trade deal with India today.
The Tories talked up a trade deal with India for eight years, but never delivered.
My Labour government rolled up our sleeves and got the job done in 10 months.
We are delivering for working people.
Keir Starmer failed to mention in his post a finer point that will adversely affect "working people" - Indian workers in the UK will not pay any National Insurance for three years.
Conservative Robert Jenrick posted his thoughts to X:
This trade deal means Indian workers here for less than 3 years will not pay National Insurance in the UK.
Starmer has hiked National Insurance on Brits while giving an exemption to Indian migrants.
British workers come last in Starmer’s Britain.
Former MP for Wolverhampton North East, Jane Stevenson, also raised some good questions.
What will this do for immigration stats? Is there a limit on cheaper Indian employees?
Companies have just been whacked by Rachel Reeves' NI jobs tax. If they employ an Indian worker, they avoid it entirely!
#TwoTierKeir #TwoTierTaxes
Conservative Leader Kemi Badenoch hit back after Keir's proud boast that he'd got the deal done in just ten months.
This is two-tier taxes from two-tier Keir.
I refused to sign this deal because:
1. Tax refunds for Indians not available to us
2. Visa requests too high
3. Ceramics and Aluminium industries would be screwed.
Suella Braverman also posted to X:
As Home Secretary I blocked the India Trade Deal because I was not willing to grant concessions on visas.
It seems that you have caved and opened our labour market to more Indian workers who will be cheaper to hire than Brits.
This is not the way to cut migration or support British workers.
Haven’t you learnt anything from the last few days?!
