Political Editor of The Sun, Harry Cole, has quizzed Keir Starmer, asking "Why do people like JK Rowling accuse Labour of abandoning women? What's gone wrong here?"
Keir Starmer replied: "Look, I respect what she says, and I think I welcome the debate."
Harry Cole then mentioned a post Ms Rowling made on X/Twitter where she said: "Labour giving the same energy as a man who's been shagging a woman from work but thinks his wife should be cool about it because he's always put the bins out."
Mr Cole then asked Mr Starmer: "Are you going to try and bring her back? She used to be a Labour donor."
Mr Starmer said he respected JK Rowling and said he would meet with her, adding she "had made some really important points".
Mr Starmer finished with the statement: "I'd welcome that discussion because I do think that we've made huge progress on women's rights under Labour governments, and equality, massive progress. There's more work to be done if we are privileged to come in to serve this country."
