Mike Amesbury MP suspended by Labour Party after he punches man in the street

October 28th, 2024

The Labour Party have suspended Mike Amesbury after videos were released showing him punching a man to the floor, and then continuing to punch him whilst he was down.

Statement from Mike Amesbury MP:

Last night, I was involved in an incident that took place after I felt threatened on the street following an evening out with friends.

This morning, I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident.

I will not be making further public comment but will, of course, cooperate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police.

I remain fully committed to working hard for the people of Runcorn and Helsby, and am determined to remain an open and accessible MP for our community.

It's quite ironic that Mike Amesbury recently reposted a Home Office post which highlighted prison sentences for rioting and violent disorder.

Mr Amesbury reposted it with the following words:

For the thugs and criminals, see what to expect below.
