Have we just witnessed two tier justice once again?
Former Labour MP Mike Amesbury was jailed on Monday of this week for punching a constituent, Paul Fellows, in Frodsham, Cheshire after a night out. Mr Amesbury continued to punch mr Fellows whilst he was on the ground.
My Amesbury received a ten week prison sentence for the assault. Today, just three days after being sentenced, Mr Amesbury managed to secure an appeal against his sentence.
Today his ten week prison sentence was suspended for two years.
Reform UK MP Lee Anderson said:
Two Tier.
It just is.

Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe is bang on the money with his X post:
It seems that you’re often more likely to end in prison through ‘inciting’ violence, than actually inflicting it.
-- Rupert Lowe, 27 February 2025
Political Commentator and Broadcaster Alex Armstrong posted a very accurate summary to X:
Message is clear from the judiciary:
• Violently attack someone = get off free
• Write bad words on the internet = years in prison
The justice system stinks and is not fit for purpose. As much as inciting hate is WRONG, actual violence is far, far worse especially from someone who holds office.
