Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething has lost a vote of no confidence tabled by the Tories and backed by Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats. He lost the vote with 29 voting against and 27 for.

Keir Starmer continues to back Gething who has only been the First Minister since March.

The vote of no confidence is non-binding, but pressure for Gething to resign is sure to rise.

Gething called the the vote a "transparent gimmick" and vowed to carry on, saying: "I'm here, proud to be the first minister of Wales, to serve and lead my country. That’s what I will carry on doing."

Labour's Hannah Blythyn and Lee Waters did not vote as they were on sick leave.
