Wes Streeting, Shadow Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, has vowed: "Over my dead body would we privatise the NHS".
Mr Streeting took to X/Twitter to say:
When I went through kidney cancer the one thing I never had to worry about was the bill.
I will always defend the founding principles of the NHS as a public service, free at the point of use, there for us when we need it.
