Dame Nicole Jacobs is the Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales and was appointed as the country’s first Commissioner in 2019. With nearly 30 years’ experience working across domestic abuse services, policy and intervention, she is a prominent advocate for improving support and protection for victims and survivors.
As Commissioner, Jacobs provides independent oversight of the response to domestic abuse, holding government and public agencies to account while championing survivors’ voices and pushing for improvements in prevention, policing, criminal justice and specialist support services.
More than 100 organisations have challenged Andy Burnham over the early release of domestic abuse perpetrators, warning the policy conflicts with Labour's pledge to halve violence against women and girls.
