Once again Reform's Rupert Lowe is holding Labour to account - this time questioning where the latest £50 million donation will end up. Mr Lowe is calling for a comprehensive review of how British taxpayer money is being spent overseas.
Mr Lowe posted to X:
There needs to be a comprehensive review of how British taxpayer money is being spent overseas.
£50 million announced for Syria just yesterday - how on earth do we know that those funds won't fall into the wrong hands? Just think about what that money could do for communities around the UK. It's the very tip of the foreign aid iceberg, of course...
We need to objectively look at how ALL of this money is being spent, and simply ask - how is this benefiting the British people? A full and comprehensive review of EVERY penny is needed.
As a country, we need to say - sorry, but we just can't afford it. And we can't. We're broke.
Foreign aid for China? India? It's not our problem.
Labour has committed to £11.6bn in 'overseas climate aid'. The answer has to be no. It's simply too much money.
The priority for the British Government has to be the British people. This should not be a controversial statement.
Our entire foreign aid spend needs an urgent rethink.
