Peter Murrell, the former chief executive of the SNP, has appeared in court charged with embezzlement as part of the ongoing police probe into the SNP’s finances.
Mr Murrell appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court this morning, where he made no plea in relation to a single charge of embezzlement. Mr Murrell has been released on bail.

Nicola Sturgeon told reporters outside her home: "I am completely in the clear. That is the outcome I would always have expected".
