Independent candidate Yusuf Davda has been elected as the new councillor for Rumworth ward on Bolton Council, winning the by-election held on Thursday, 30 July.
Davda secured 1,458 votes, finishing ahead of Labour candidate Sajid Pathan, who received 1,054 votes. The Green Party placed third with 517 votes, while Reform UK finished fourth with 279 votes. Conservative, Liberal Democrat and a second Independent candidate completed the field.
