Treasury Confirms Budget Will Take Place on 28 October 2026

Chancellor John Healey will present the Government's next Budget on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, alongside a new economic and fiscal forecast from the OBR.

HM Treasury has confirmed that the Government's next Budget will be presented on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

Chancellor John Healey has formally commissioned the Office for Budget Responsibility to prepare a new economic and fiscal forecast. The independent assessment will be presented to Parliament alongside the Budget.

It will be Healey's first Budget since becoming Chancellor and will set out the Government's plans for taxation, public spending and the wider economy.

New Forecast for the Economy and Public Finances

The OBR forecast is expected to provide updated projections for economic growth, inflation, government borrowing and debt. It will also assess the Government's performance against its fiscal rules after taking account of the measures announced in the Budget.

The Treasury has not yet announced the Budget's individual tax or spending policies. Further details are expected to emerge as the Government prepares for the statement in October.
