Daniel Thomas, the anti-immigration campaigner known as Danny Tommo, has been charged with two offences following an alleged incident involving a boat in the English Channel.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the 37-year-old has been charged with one count of criminal damage. He has also been charged under section 53 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) in connection with an alleged failure to comply with a notice to disclose a phone PIN to police.
The charges relate to an allegation that a boat was damaged in the Channel on Tuesday 22 September 2026 while an emergency responder was on board. Whether Thomas committed either alleged offence is a matter for the court to decide.
What have police and prosecutors said?
The Crown Prosecution Service said it had decided to prosecute Thomas following an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary. The CPS said its prosecutors assessed that there was sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that prosecution was in the public interest. The decision to bring charges is not a finding of guilt.
