The UK will contribute £100 million towards a new winter air-defence package for Ukraine, including support for Patriot missiles and other equipment intended to protect civilians, critical infrastructure and Ukrainian forces from Russian attacks.
The Ministry of Defence announced the package on Tuesday as Defence Secretary Wes Streeting co-chaired his first Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting alongside German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.
The contribution will be made through NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, known as PURL, which coordinates the provision of military equipment required by Ukraine.
Patriot missiles included in £100m package
The Government said the £100 million contribution would support Ukraine with Patriot missiles and other air-defence equipment, with deliveries expected before winter.
The equipment is intended to strengthen protection for Ukraine's critical national infrastructure, civilians and armed forces as Russia continues missile and drone attacks.
The announcement follows recent visits to Kyiv by Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Streeting, during which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of additional military support ahead of winter.
UK reaches one-million artillery-round milestone
The Government also announced that Britain has now delivered its one-millionth round of large-calibre artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
The UK plans to follow that milestone by supplying tens of thousands of additional long-range artillery rounds in the coming months, with funding from Britain, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
Drone deliveries to accelerate before winter
Britain has committed to providing more than 120,000 drones to Ukraine this year, with 25,000 delivered so far.
The Ministry of Defence said deliveries would now ramp up ahead of winter.
The equipment includes interceptor drones designed to destroy Russian drones, reconnaissance systems used to monitor the battlefield and areas behind enemy lines, and attack drones for use by Ukrainian forces.
Streeting chairs first Ukraine Defence Contact Group
Streeting and Pistorius are co-chairing the 36th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, bringing together nearly 50 countries to coordinate military support for Kyiv and identify urgent battlefield requirements.
The Defence Secretary said Britain and its allies were converting their commitments into military capability and pledged that UK support for Ukraine would not waver.
Latest commitment follows earlier air-defence support
Tuesday's announcement follows substantial UK commitments to Ukrainian air defence earlier in 2026.
In February, Britain announced a package worth more than £500 million, including a £150 million contribution to NATO's PURL initiative and an additional 1,000 UK-manufactured Lightweight Multirole Missiles.
A further £100 million air-defence package was announced in March, while a £752 million package unveiled in June included drones, more than 350 air-defence missiles and radar systems.
The latest £100 million contribution is therefore a new winter package announced on Tuesday rather than the total value of Britain's air-defence assistance to Ukraine.
UK backs Ukrainian long-range missile production
The Government said the latest support follows an agreement allowing defence company MBDA to release classified information relating to British components used in the SCALP long-range missile, also known as Storm Shadow, to support local assembly lines in Ukraine.
Burnham's recent visit to Kyiv also resulted in an agreement for Britain and Ukraine to cooperate on artificial intelligence and future military capabilities.
